All bulkheads and ribs are full size and assembly drawings are detailed and easily read. The construction manual is well illustrated, containing 45 photos and many sketches. Instructions are given for rib and bulkhead forming as well as general instructions for metal aircraft building techniques. Two full size drawings show the windshield bow layout, fairing layout, side skin cutout, tube profile, and transverse bulkhead layout. Along with improved visibility the M-IA canopy also gives inches more headroom. Hardware, rivets, canopy, tailwheel assembly, main landing gear, formed skins, control surfaces, ribs, spars, bulkheads, and welded steel parts are all included.

It is a low-wing cantilever monoplane of metal construction, primarily of T3 aluminum and most are fitted with fixed tailwheel undercarriage. Developed by Piper engineer David Long in , plans for production by Schweizer were underway at the time of Long's death two years later. The Midget Mustang design being marketed in is similar to the original, with the option of building it with a bubble canopy in place of the straight line of the upper tailcone and hinged canopy of Long's original design, making it an M-IA. Jim Harter's Blog Page. I removed the cover support structure from the left skin and removed the skin so I can have better access to rivet the right skin to the air frame. I'm doing that side first because it will be easier to rivet the flap quadrant bracket to the right skin by reaching through the left side.
