She turned up on stage in the heavy coat and a matching snood to celebrate the annual lighting of the Centre's Christmas tree. She was joined by a sea of famous faces, including singers Michael Buble and Shakira, while thousands packed the streets to watch the soul legend, 67, perform backed by a gospel choir. Miss Franklin, whose hits in the 60s and 70s included Respect and Say a Little Prayer, has spoken of her battle with her weight, saying how she had come to accept she 'was never meant to be a model type'. But she did make one concession to glamour, taking to the stage wearing a red full length sequinned gown.
