If you quickly open a soda, there is some chance the contents will foam up and spill over the top. Talking with people about relationships with loved ones in the military is like opening a bottle that has been violently shaken. The pressure inside is so great that the questions and experiences come out fast and strong, and they spew in every direction. Senior officers have given the idea the green light as part of a drive to recruit more soldiers then persuade them to stay longer in uniform. The first base to allow squaddies to sleep with visitors of the opposite sex has already opened a 'welfare house' which operates as a hotel for the use of single personnel. The regime means servicemen and women will also be allowed to entertain homosexual lovers overnight on bases. There will be no inquiries into soldiers' sex lives as long as they do not affect the operational effectiveness or morale of their unit. In future, barracks will be built with single en-suite rooms.

For those of us who do have careers of our own going on all the while, this can be especially tricky — having to re-license in new states every few years for some professions, maybe, or even having to work totally outside your chosen field due to area unavailability or being stationed outside of the country.
