Rachel Goldman, PhD FTOS, is a licensed psychologist, clinical assistant professor, speaker, wellness expert specializing in eating behaviors, stress management, and health behavior change. Sex therapy certification programs train licensed healthcare providers to work with patients experiencing sexual health concerns. While some healthcare training programs include information about gender and sexuality, most do not adequately train providers to provide sex therapy. Sex therapy certification programs teach treatment of sexual health problems to providers who are already skilled in other areas of healthcare.
